Young Adults

By Young Adult we mean people primarily in their 20s and 30s. This is a chance for young adults to connect with other young adults so that all may grow in their living of the faith. The initial vision for Young Adult Ministry at Holy Cross includes:

  • Promoting a sense of belonging amongst Young Adults in the Parish
  • Helping Young Adults meet each other
  • Serving the Parish (and local) community uniquely as Young Adults
  • Finding ways to pray together and share about faith & life
  • Reaching out to other Young Adults in the area/neighborhood
  • Together Following Jesus More Closely

Next Event: Service trip to Our Lady of the Road October 11 @ 7:30 am

On Saturday the Young Adult Group and other members of the Holy Cross Parish community will gather at Our Lady of the Road to serve the material needs of others and seek to build genuine relationships with guests and other volunteers. Our Lady of the Road is a center for hospitality founded as an outreach of the St. Peter Claver Catholic Worker House in South Bend. Anyone can come to take showers, do laundry, have breakfast, rest and enjoy conversation with one another.

From the Our Lady of the Road Staff “We serve breakfast every Fri/Sat/Sun morning from 8-11am and volunteers normally stay from 7:30-11:30am. Volunteers help with setting up, cooking food, doing laundry, organizing donations, and clean up during the course of a shift. We really emphasize the importance of having friendly conversations with guests as we do the work and feel free to take a break and just chat with someone at any time.

We don’t have a formal orientation but when you arrive at 744 S. Main Street, enter through the double doors by the mural on the parking lot side of the building. Then ask for the Catholic Worker staff member leading the shift, introduce yourself , and they will tell you how you can best plug in…”

Other Parishes with Young Adult Ministry

Many of the Parishes in the area have various outreaches to young adults and have communities of young adults. We may at times try to collaborate with them. See the other communities below:
